    The location.

There is no lift in the hotel to facilitate heavy luggage. Everywhere is very narrow, from the entrance, to the staircase and our room itself. You couldn't even fit more than two people in the reception at once, so my girlfriend had to wait at the back of the entrance, which was kind of bad because she couldn't have her own input in the conversation or things. I had to leave her with all the luggage while I spoke to the receptionist because the area was so small. There were no signs up to show us which way to go or to say something like "this is the reception". The receptionist had a small 1980's looking computer sat on a small messy looking worktop with paper work everywhere. That instantly gave us a bad impression on the "hotel" before we had even reached our room. There was a man who was working there everyday who resembled himself as a member of staff. He was miserable and didn't even greet us or show any gratitude towards our stay at the place. Outside on the steps of the hotel there were junkies asking us for cocaine, that worried and scared us because we had no idea if they would cause some kind of threat towards us. They appeared to be there each time we came back to the hotel. They were smoking in our faces which was very disrespectful. We felt like we had spent £225 to look like we had been living on the streets. The room was very small and narrow, on Booking.com it says that you would be given a hairdryer for the room and we didn't receive that, so that's very misleading. Parts of the wallpaper was torn off, the bathroom was horrific, it was so small we could have a dump, wash your foot an stick one leg in the shower simultaneously. The heat of the room was unbearable, my girlfriend suffered a lot with her asthma because of all the dust in the room. Very unclean. We also kept getting disturbed by the cleaners of the hotel two or three times in the same day.

The short walk from Paddington Station

Poor decor. No breakfast before 8.00am. Customer care okay but clearly had no interest in their guests.

Excellent location; 10 min walk to Padditon rail station and underground station

It was awful to drag heavy luggages upstairs to a tiny garret in which two people can hardly stand; awful facilities (Wi-fi was disconnected sometimes; no hot water supply at night, etc.) even at the price of gbp90 per night

    Exceptional

I would really recommend Tony’s House Hotel as it is excellent value for money. The hotel is clean and our room had been recently refurbished. Overall we had a lovely stay.

    Exceptional

The location was spot on of course. The staff were really friendly and helpful, I have had a better experience here than 5* hotels I have stayed in. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Overall, I was very happy!

The standard of the accomadation was very poor. Having just travelled round Europe for the previous month our stay at Tony's House Hotel was our last night's stay before we left and was very disappointing despite paying the most we had all month. The room was dirty and my Husband and one of the children were bitten by bed bugs. The matressess did not have mattress covers and the sheets did not fit we realised this the night before they were bitten but due to having been given a room on the fifth floor (with no lift) meant that the thought of going down to complain (after a very full day out in London) was too much. We paid for breakfast and it consisted of a tray in your room of heaps of carbohydates without even any milk for a hot drink. Don't stay here!

    Very good

We chose this hotel because of it's convenient location and the fact that it allowed us to book online for a room with two adults/two children (which was nearly impossible). It was exactly as described on the web site and it met our needs with no frills. 80 stairs (we counted!) to our room each night after walking all day was a challenge, but the location next to Paddington Stn. Was great. The staff was friendly and helpful and I think it was educational for our daughters (15 and 11) to experience sharing a small space for the 5 nights we were there. We basically only bathed and slept in the room and for that it was fine. Also, the room had a small fridge which was convenient. We actually thought it was remarkable how much they were able to do with so little space.

The only thing we found annoying was the fact that the temperature of the water in the shower had a hard time staying constant for the duration of a shower. Sometimes it became super hot, sometimes ice cold and other times it stopped for a few seconds. Still, we managed to get clean each day - it just took a little patience.

    Superb

I loved the location and setting of the hotel - specifically the garden square in front of the hotel. It was also very centrally located. Also loved the "old atmosphere" of the place

The rooms and bathrooms are a bit small but when you are on holiday how much time do you actucally spend in it?

Location. It is located within walking distance from Hyde Park and London's main attractions. Also, underground station and decent restaurants are closed by.

Service facilities and comfort is poor. Everything is tiny: the room, the bed, the sink, the bathroom. There is no lift (elevator). We had to drag our 5 bag luggage to the 5th floor using pretty narrow and steep stairs. No help from the staff is available. So, if you are not young and fit and you happen to have heavy luggage, do not even try this hotel. You may get a heart attack on the stairs. There is no phone in the room. So, if you happen to have a question or request, you have to go downstairs to find a hotel staff.

    Location was good.

The hotel is rundown and in need of a rehab.

    Friendly reception staff

Very steep and narrow staircase with lots of stairs (no lift). Coffee mugs not properly washed. Window kept open with an old plastic bottle.

    Leaving the next day!

Although clean, the hotel needs a good lick of paint and new decoration, rooms are small and I mean small, even a double room! We had an empty bottle holding our window open! No lock on the door! Just a yale lock! This hotel is perfect for students or one night back packing. Breakfast very poor and prepacked! If you want comfort do not stay here! We will not be staying there again. Not worth the money!

The location on Norfolk Square was good, close to Paddington Station. The Continental Breakfast brought to the room, although not very good, was voluminous. The manager did offer the loan of an umbrella when we went out, which proved most useful.

We booked a family room for four people - when we finally managed to drag our things to the top floor (four long flights of stairs up), we found a room with two full-size beds (not even doubles) crammed into a closet-sized room - we could stand next to the beds but nothing more. At least there was an en-suite bathroom . . . more a cupboard, really, in which you could sit on the toilet with your chin over the sink and your feet in the shower. If you were thin you could stand in front of the sink and close the door - but not if you wanted to dry yourself with your towel. Everything was old and ragged, the window barely stayed open to let in some air, but if you bumped it you could have your arm taken off as it crashed shut. They didn't bother getting sheets to fit the beds, but used twin sheets that covered the top - meaning that if you had two people in the bed and you rolled over, the sheet would no longer be covering the mattress. Fortunately the night we were there the heat wave broke and it rained, otherwise I imagine it would have been unbearably hot. We were told breakfast would be brought to the room, and we waited more than an hour and decided to give up and just leave. When we opened the door it was on a tray in the corridor - but no one had ever knocked to let us know it was there! It was a loaded tray with a large variety of packaged goods, and though of marginal quality, surprised us with the generosity. This was our last night of a quick tour of UK universities, and the most expensive place we stayed - but definitely the worst!
